Shortly after writing my first post I found myself on a farm in the middle of nowhere in Sicily, and after that I went to a castle in Tuscany with a computer possibly invented at the same time the original foundations of the castle were built, which was during the Etruscan period...so that is my excuse for not posting for the last month or so. Bowen, your summer farm life sounds quite enticing and if I were to trade island hopping and EU invasions for anything, it would be that. For whatever reason I am at a loss of things to say. Max has yet to post, but in case you read this Maxwell, I am writing this post from a bar in Berlin with a large Billy Bragg (1 g or 2?) poster on the wall. Well, sorry I don't have any exciting and revolutionary ideas like I did in April, but I just wanted to check in and say hello since it's been awhile since I've talked with everyone. Except for Josh, of course...who aside from telling me about his own tattoo also told me about Juliet's and Doug's. You guys are fucking badass. Send me pics if you have them. I love you all.

history is exciting.

16 May 1903 Coney Island's Luna Park opens to the illumination of 122,000 bulbs; upscale Luna offers "electro-scenic mechanical illusions" and allows weary mothers to check their babies along with their parcels.

19 May 1885 To win a bet, swimmer Robert Odlum takes the first leap off the Brooklyn Bridge. His fatal plunge fails to deter later jumpers from attempting the same stunt.

thanks, New-York Historical Society!

skills.

lately i've been thinking about all the things i don't know. for instance, carpentry. how do i go about learning carpentry? i'd like to learn to build things. i'm quite serious about this (for now - i'll probably forget about it in a few weeks.) but really, without the immediate practical application, how does one acquire these skills?

hot hand in the dice game

Doug discovered this photo on his computer last night during a very very low stakes game of Texas Hold Em'. I'm not sure who this dude is but he reminds me of a babysitter I once had. That guy is no longer allowed within 100 yards of a school anywhere in California.

Farming Is The New Blogging

it has suddenly occurred to me that this blog is way off balance. nothing thomas, josh, sarah, or i can post will be nearly as entertaining as island hopping in greece or EU invasions. let's face it, New York is dead. we might as well give the island of manhattan a swift kick in the north and send it down those filthy rivers and into the Atlantic. with any luck or good sense those that we like well enough will be at my farm anyhow. speaking of my farm [heh-hem] you all should check out HearthFarm.com the new garden of eden of the web. this is quite literally the only thing i've been doing or thinking in the last few weeks. thomas' shit is all over it, and it's about time the rest of you let me smear your faces in my online patch of garden. i take off for three months of farm keeping / art making on June 1st and invite you all to join in. labor day marks The Bonfire Fellowship, which promises to be a weekend filled with possibilities. check it out. also, i just posted some new work of my own on my own blah blah blog. it features the lovely photographs of holly andres. check it out. be in touch.

Doing my taxes doesn't evoke anything nearly as cool as the blog imagery Thomas created. But, I didn't do my taxes this year and if I remember correctly Josh basically did them for me last year, so maybe that's my problem. I am in the airport in Milan and everything is in Italian, so if I fuck this post up that is my excuse. Um...I felt badly about taking forever to join since this was my idea, but I was living the life with Athena in Griechenland. I am currently midway through a 12 hour layover in Milan, so I am really going to exploit this new means of communication. A few orders of business...Greece is the best place ever, especially when Athena is there because she is supercool, as we all already know. The two of us collectively decided that there should be a group trip to Athens and Nysiros (involving a 15 hour ferry...what is cooler than that?) in summer 2010. Although, I think it needs to be pushed back to 2011 because I probably won't be able to afford that trip in two years. Athena and I also decided that all of our lives would be easier if New York were a part of the EU, so I think we should start a secession/accession campaign. I have obviously been thinking about this way too much, because it also led to a conversation with Thomas about recreating Pangaea, or just building land bridges, if we can't get the EU thing to work out. I am going to be working on a farm for the next 5 weeks, so you guys have a lot of work to do if we are going to make any of this happen. Hmmm...In Lisbon there were three artist friends who created a tour group which basically involves hanging out with them for five hours and going to their favorite places. Another of my many crazy plans-possibly the most feasible, but only if we aren't really being innovative-is that we start a tour group for foreigners in New York. We can start with random galleries or museums, then go to Lakeside or Grassroots, maybe Heathers. These are just the first places that come to mind. I sort of feel like I am starting to get delirious and should maybe try to sleep/eat for a bit. I definitely want to make a Beatles movie. I also want to watch more Battlestar Galactica (sp?)! I miss you all...I hope people actually read this. Otherwise you owe me a drink the next time I'm in New York.

Hi Everybody

So, here it is. I'm sorry it looks so ugly...reminds me of doing my taxes.

Hopefully this will help everyone keep tabs on each other's adventures, or at least give those of us with desk jobs something to do at work.

I apologize if anyone thinks the address is lame. It was gonna be "blahblahblog.blogspot.com" but this jerk thought of that already.

The beautiful image at the top of the page is the result of a botched Photoshop lesson Josh and I gave Max. Instead of learning, we designed the cover for Frank's first book, I Have Gay Sox .
